Somatropin is an injectable form of human growth hormone or HGH. It is prescribed for children who are failing to meet age-appropriate growth milestones and for the replacement of growth hormone in adults with “adult-onset” or “age-related” growth hormone deficiency (GHD).
It can be found in its generic form, and it is also sold under several brand names, which can be found on our products page, including:
All of these versions of somatropin can be found on our products page. They are equally effective in treating adults with GHD and differ only in their relative prices, available doses, and injection methods.
Somatropin injections contain a synthetic form of human growth hormone (HGH) made from recombinant DNA. As such, it is used to replace growth hormone in adults and children with growth hormone deficiency. In children with growth failure, it stimulates skeletal growth, increases the number and size of skeletal muscle cells, influences the size and function of internal organs, and has important effects on metabolism.
Somatropin injections for sale in the US are also prescribed to increase growth in children with certain conditions that affect normal growth and development, such as Prader-Willi Syndrome, Small for Gestational Age, Turner Syndrome, and Idiopathic Short Stature.
Somatropin is also used medically to increase body weight and physical endurance in patients with HIV who have HIV-associated wasting syndrome. It is also used to treat short bowel syndrome in adults and adults who are suffering various symptoms of age-related or “adult-onset” growth hormone deficiency.
When used as prescribed for the treatment of growth hormone deficiency, the effects of growth hormone can be quite beneficial. In addition to increased skeletal, cell, and organ growth enabling children to achieve proper stature, other documented benefits of HGH in children and adult individuals include:
There is a significant volume of clinical research that provides substantial evidence for the benefits of somatropin treatments for adult individuals with GHD.
A study entitled Obesity, growth hormone, and weight loss concluded that growth hormone could indeed reduce abdominal fat.
Another found that HGH specifically reduced obesity in post-menopausal women. And yet another on HGH and weight loss in children confirmed that “HGH had [fat burning] properties that resulted in reduction and redistribution of body fat.”
A study on HGH published in the March 2018 edition of the International Journal of Molecule Science, entitled, Treatment with Growth Hormone for Adults with Growth Hormone Deficiency Syndrome: Benefits and Risks concluded: “Growth hormone replacement exerts unquestionable beneficial effects in many [adult] patients with GHD, and its use is safe for approved indications. [In addition,] HGH has shown beneficial effects on body composition, exercise capacity, bone structure, serum lipids, and quality of life.”
Research indicates that there is a definitive link between arousal, HGH, and sexual function. Studies have found that upon sexual excitement, HGH levels also increase. The same studies found that men with ED had as much as seven times less HGH in their erectile tissues when non-erect than in men with normal erectile function. One such study published in 2000 concluded, “[Our] results suggest that penile erection is probably induced by growth hormone through its stimulating activity on human corpus cavernosum smooth muscle.”
Men who received HGH supplementation for other reasons, such as lack of vitality or loss of muscle, also reported improved libido and increased ability to gain an erection. A specific 2002 study looking at the link between HGH and erectile function, published in the Journal of Urology, concluded, “Our results suggest that penile erection [is] induced by growth hormone through its nitric oxide and cyclic guanosine monophosphate stimulating activity on human corpus cavernosum smooth muscle.”
A 2012 study looking into the impact of adult-onset HGH deficiency on libido in both men and women found that “a decrease of desire and arousability both in men and women, together with an impairment of erectile function in men, has been described both in patients with GHD.” The study concluded that “Data on beneficial effects of HGH replacement therapy restoring normal GH/IGF-I levels have been associated to improvement of sexual function.”
This medication is approved for treating growth hormone deficiency in men, women, and children. As such, it is generally regarded as safe. However, as with any prescription medication, somatropin treatment does have some possible side effects.
Some of the more common side effects of somatropin treatment include the following:
Injection site reactions include pain, redness/swelling, inflammation, bleeding, scarring, or rash.
As long as it is used as directed, an overdose of this medication is rare. Accidental overdose can result in:
Never take a larger dose than prescribed. If you miss a dose, speak to your healthcare provider or pharmacist.
Somatropin can be prescribed in several different ways for adults with growth hormone issues, designed to suit different patient needs and lifestyles. All require self-injections. This medication is available for use with various proprietary injectable devices or standard syringes. The injectable devices include the Genotropin® Multiuse Pen and the Genotropin MiniQuick® pen, which are quite popular with adults prescribed HGH injections to treat age-related growth hormone deficiency.
HGH injections are given subcutaneously, which means just below the skin. You will be shown exactly how to administer your particular Somatropin injections.
The dosage of this medication varies by age, weight, and the condition it is being prescribed for. Due to the many different brands and types of Somatropin, quite a few different dosages are available. You and your healthcare provider will determine the best for you based on your presenting symptoms, diagnosis, and lifestyle.
It is recommended that all versions of HGH should be stored under refrigeration at 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C). Somatropin or any brands of HGH injections should never be frozen, and this medication should be kept out of direct light.
The manufacturers of injectable pen devices say you can store the pen in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before use.
You cannot buy any brand of Somatropin without a prescription. Any product that you can buy without a prescription that claims to be human growth hormone or contains Somatropin cannot, by US law, contain any real HGH. Similarly, all brands and types of genuine HGH are only via injections. There is no pill form of Somatropin.
Buying any product that claims to be HGH or to contain Somatropin without a prescription is not only illegal; it can be hazardous to your health. These products are often counterfeits of the brand names of HGH listed on this page, which contain inferior-quality HGH, if they contain any HGH at all. They may also contain other ingredients which could be toxic.
Do not risk your health and safety by ever buying HGH without a prescription.
While you must have a prescription for Somatropin, if you really need it, getting a prescription is not that difficult. But you must do so in the right and legal way. It all starts with contacting us by filling out our getting started form or medical history form. Once you do so, we will be happy to walk you through the entire process of diagnosis, prescription, and legal purchase of HGH injections.
As mentioned above, you must have a legitimate doctor’s prescription to purchase Somatropin in the US. Once you have a prescription, you may be able to buy this medication online, but only from sellers like Nexel Medical that follow strict FDA and DEA regulations for prescribing and selling prescription medications online.
It is not up to you what dosage of Somatropin to buy. Your doctor will prescribe the adequate dose of Somatropin for you to purchase based on your symptoms, needs, and lifestyle.
Somatropin is perfectly legal when obtained with a doctor’s prescription and used under proper medical supervision. It is illegal to obtain or use Somatropin or any form of HGH without a prescription. HGH is banned as a performance-enhancing drug by most major sports organizations, but is it legal to use by medical patients with a prescription?
Yes. According to Pfizer, Somatropin® should be refrigerated at 36°F to 46°F. See above for complete storage information.
You cannot buy Somatropin without a doctor’s prescription. Once it has been prescribed for you, we will advise you on where and how to purchase it.
Unfortunately, there have been reports of “fake” or counterfeit Somatropin pens being sold on the black market. You can be sure that any Somatropin device you get from a legitimate pharmacy with an authentic doctor’s prescription is genuine. Certainly, any Somatropin pens you purchase through our clinic will be genuine.
Any doctor can diagnose you with GHD and write you a prescription for Somatropin, and theoretically, you can fill that prescription with any legitimate seller of HGH. However, none of that is to say that you should get your HGH injections from just any doctor or healthcare provider. You want to work with a clinic like ours that specializes in testing and treating age-related hormone loss in men and women.
Our doctors and entire staff have years of experience in prescribing HGH and other hormone replacement therapies. We also take a holistic approach to treating age-related GHD that takes all of your hormones into consideration, and we will design a program customized for you that could include other therapies like testosterone replacement.
We will also monitor you throughout your course of taking Somatropin and provide you with lifestyle counseling to make sure you get the most out of your treatment.
